Over nine years ago when we moved to STX , young and stupid, people told us about the infamous “St. Patty’s Day Parade”. At the time, it was described as a huge DRUNK FEST. Ok, we’re in (no kids). Our first SPDP was not a huge drunk fest for us, yes we drank and it was fun. But here is my point. Crucians celebrate EVERYTHING. Because we are here to celebrate living. Everything is a party. Tuesday morning, Wednesday afternoon…. lots of us have no concept of 9-5. The weekend is everyday depending on your work schedule.
I know the winter has not been as harsh to America and especially the north-east (where most of our visitors travel from) so you may not be day-dreaming about your Caribbean vacay, but still, come to STX. Relax. Have fun. Forget about your 9-5 life in America for a while.
Here is a great video from MJS Visions that give you a glimpse of what the St. Croix St. Patrick’s Day Parade consists of. And it is damn fun. These are friends, husbands, wifes, moms, dads, brothers, sisters, all having fun for the day. For the past few years, we have hauled our green-laden children to this parade, shot water guns and had a family style blast. And we will do it again this year.
And of course local bad-ass Kurt Schindler.
I’m guessing there are probably about five people on STX that can actually claim Irish heritage..but on St. Patty’s day aren’t we all?
And another point: Enjoy life and have fun. It’s Friday. Time to celebrate.
Like that? Make plans this year. Parade day is Saturday, March 17. Be there.

Loved the video! Makes me wish that we could be there for the celebration, but our visit won’t be until July.
I just had it streaming on my computer all morning. Each time I see it, I catch something new. There are some pretty funny dancers. Not sure of the exact date, but Mango Melee takes place in July and it is a BLAST! Not as crazy, but the mango eating contests are pretty funny. You’ll have a blast! thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment xo bfm
Whoa! Hubby and I are in the video!! I’m 1/8 Irish – does that count? And for sure, Cruzans love to celebrate: Mangos, Independence, Transfer, Emancipation, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Waking Up In The Morning, Whatever. Thanks for sharing.
How fun? I love this one, but there are several. Heck ya it counts you’re 1/8th irish, but aren’t we all?? Yep, just give us a reason to celebrate and we will. Today, I celebrate that I just bought my last pack of pull-ups for biggie and have not used them yet!! WEEEE!!!!
